Our Calligraphy Guild Workshop

Diane von Arx (back row, fourth from the left) with members of the St. Louis Calligraphy Guild  Photo courtesy of Special Collections and Pius Library, Saint Louis UniversityThe Heritage Edition (Wisdom volume) was on display at Saint Louis University at a presentation given by Diane von Arx, a calligrapher from Minneapolis and one of the scribes and artists responsible for creating the original artwork of The Saint John’s Bible. Ms. von Arx presented examples of the work in progress and the finished artwork in the fine art edition at “Special Treatment Illuminations for The Saint John’s Bible” for the St. Louis Calligraphy Guild. She also gave the calligraphers in attendance personal reflections on the artistic process working with Artistic Director Donald Jackson and the calligraphy team. The workshop was presented in collaboration with the Knights of Columbus Vatican Film Library, Saint Louis University (SLU), and hosted by Gregory Pass, head of SLU Special Collections Department and director of the Vatican Film Library.
